Person Centered Advocacy

MI-UCP provides comprehensive support to individuals with cerebral palsy and other disabilities in becoming full participating citizens in their communities. We utilize a person centered model to access employment, education, recreation and core basic needs including food, clothing and financial resources.

Through the Person Centered Advocacy Program, MI-UCP makes it possible for parents to receive the technical know-how and the moral and emotional support they need when advocating for the rights of their children.

Educational Advocacy

An important advocacy partner to MI-UCP, Michigan Alliance for Families provides advocacy support for families residing in Oakland County. In addition, they are a resource for information and education for families who have children (birth through 26 years of age) who receive (or may be eligible to receive) special education services. MI-UCP will assist parents with education issues that include attending Individual Education Program (IEP) meetings.
