Person Centered Advocacy

 

 

UCP/Detroit provides comprehensive supports to individuals with cerebral pasly and other disabilities. Our primary focus is to support individuals with disabilities in becoming full participating citizens in their communities. Our programs support individuals by utilizing a person centered model to access employment, eduation, recreation and access to core basic needs that include food, clothing and financial resources.

 

UCP/Detroit believes strongly in the right to self-determination and independence for all people regardless of any physical, mental or emotional limitations that society calls a "disability."

 

Through the Person Centered Advocacy Program, the agency makes it possible for parents to receive the technical know-how and the moral and emotional support they need when advocating for the rights of their children. The Navigators also provide intake and referral services, specialized trainings/workshops, support group meetings and assist all people with disabilities to access community services.
